CES preferred choice
As one of more than 140,000 visitors during CES, I sometimes feel like I am a lemming to go with the flow from one to the other exhibits for the most in awe of it all was the spectacle. If there was no consistent theme, which was centered on the concept of digital inclusion. This was evident in the connection of lifestyle and occupation, home and car.
Microsoft has shown impressive shows the concept of international best –with the ongoing talks and exhibitions to illustrate the integration of their software and services.
HP and others have shown how digital technology can be used in any room in the house for comfort, productivity, safety and fun. Many exhibitors have addressed only some aspects of integration opportunities. For example, there are many booths devoted to home security and remote control of other home-made applications such as sprinklers, garage doors, heating, hot tub / pool, lighting, cameras and more. Some integrated systems, including the use of a Windows Mobile device as a remote control.
One whole room was devoted to high-definition TV, video applications, mobile, audio, games, and systems for confirmation. With the advent of HDTV widescreen, a whole new style of furniture and interior design have emerged, along with home theater with special seats, audio systems, mounting and connection optionsconsiderations.
By the way, I think I would put my money in a film that wins the format war HD. Unless, when the dust settled, there is a completely new format.
There have been games Galore with special controller and furniture. According to the differences that come from a few stalls, guitars air seemed to be the most popular, but that weakness deviate from the handset in the world – well, not really. Hands-On Mobile in San Diego, CA, now offers guitarHero Mobile.
The car is definitely a new focus and a profit center for the integration of digital technology. Ford and Microsoft have joined forces to offer voice recognition, Bluetooth and GPS. A couple of years, Ford has offered to Sirius Satellite Radio, but now MSN features, such as emergency road service, housing, movement and condition of the roads, gas prices, which combines routing and distortion.
The president of General Motors has had a geleentheidspreker presentation shows that GMhas a couple of tricks at his sleeve as well. The rest of the automotive world will not be far behind.
What amused me is that all these "new" car was my environment features in recent years, thanks to my trusty Windows Mobile-based devices with little. But I suppose that the average person has a simpler approach to integrate all that is already built will be selected.
Mobile Computing Devices
While I was trying to take everything, I'm sure I lost a couple of niftythings because it was all just so overwhelming. However, do not try to concentrate on two things: the new Windows Mobile devices and UMPCs.
I have several new WM6 devices, I would thoroughly investigated as soon as I received evaluation units from Asus, Samsung, HP, Samsung and Verizon found. I was at how little new equipment was surprised announced or released for the show. I'm not sure what HTC does, and never was able to reconnect with them, but they are more open mouth, now that thework with media and marketing with your name. In particular, choose the best release include the new Motorola Q9h, the Samsung shi760, and a new iPaq power of Windows Mobile 6 Classic version.
Since my article on UMPC, the first time that emerge a few years ago, I looked to see if it would survive. Even if they have not and will replace the Pocket PC is not finalized a niche compared to the market. I was glad to see several new modelsavailable.
I will drive by Samsung and Asus to review and share my findings soon. Suffice it to say for the moment that the two companies have listened to user input and react accordingly. You can also look forward to many improvements and innovations in this platform that is changing.
Besides the big name brands like Sony, Panasonic, etc., there were hundreds of stalls and places Hilton Sands, a small producer wannabees showcasing some tax, butyou have to dig for them. So I have a couple of the biggest manufacturers of Windows Mobile devices, UMPCs, and some really innovative, which I hope to get into the review has found.
As for accessories for our beloved Pocket Pals, I have some pearls that I will do some of my games are getting under way.
Hands-free driving and the music
I'm always looking for a good Bluetooth headset and headphones. I found both the Jabra booth. My favorite is the Jabra BT8030 Bluetooth and SpeakersHeadphones. It 'the first time, a combination that is unmatched in the market. You can remove the headphones, folding them and they are the speakers that transmit sound to your Zire Power Bass, with a surprisingly deep and rich ambient sounds. This is a must have my mobile suit.
My only criticism of this product, however excellent, that you can control it via a USB connection. But you can expect up to 32 hours listening time on a single charge and up to 600 hours standbytime. They weigh just under 11 grams. The suggested retail price is $ 250, but look around and you can certainly do better.
I'm always looking for a comfortable BT headset does not fall out of my ears, it is easy and not too bad. Jabra come to the rescue once again with its new JX20 Pura, a headset with elegant design small titanium by Jacob Jensen, the famous Danish designer design. Weighs less than the beak of a bird, so do not even know exist. You can listenmusic with it, even when you're on the phone.
His steed is a work of art to grace your desktop. You can not expect that to six hours of talk time, and your car can be recharged either through a USB port and AC. The sound quality is excellent and there is an automatic volume control.
This stylish phone will cost up to $ 179, which is a bit 'steep you have a Bluetooth headset can be purchased for a minimum of $ 30, but you get what you pay forfor.
Mobile Video Just Got Better
One of my favorite shows weather gets better and better. I can imagine a life without my Slingbox and SlingPlayer for my Windows Mobile devices that allows me to see my favorite live TV and recorded shows in the world with no monthly fee.
The reason I say that is better than with the recently published Pro HD, you can see full HD and streaming video access to multiple sources. It can be used for streaming HD videoaround the house of a computer or laptop. SlingCatcher will be soon and that will allow access to your home video output from any video site on the Internet.
SlingPlayer 2.0 with Clip + Sling is now a program that lets you record and video clips, funny and also very useful for sending. SlingMedia Congratulations to one of the truly innovative companies in the digital world.
Video Eyewear
I have another choice for CESMyVu.com favorite video display solution for portable devices. Even though this company seems to hang on your iPod, but also a universal audience, which is supposed to work with all portable devices output video. What you get for $ 199 is a pair of glasses that projects the video output if you see a 27 inch. This is a concept, but I'm not sure just what you can project. It 'was such pandemonium in the cabin that I found unsatisfactoryanswer.
My viewing experience is that the pictures were small, isolated, non-essential, and a low resolution. Maybe the game I was not up to par with regard to production, but what I've seen links to something.
Now if only you could see how the output screen of your Windows Mobile device and something that appears in the same resolution that appears in the palm of your hand, it would be a gadget is most valuable.
Kristal offers My.Vu 701,which is an elegant, hand-free headsets and vision eyewear with VGA resolution and a USB port, rechargeable battery with up to 4 hours of air.
There are also the nuances of the model 301 with umbrellas and 10 hours of airtime. You can also Edge301, a more compact design for hands-free viewing with headphones and 4 hours of rechargeable battery. Check it out at www. myvu.com.
As I progressed through the show, I noticed that there have been other similar devices. Indeed,There are many competitors in the market, but there was not as established as the MyVu. Another competitor who appeared to be a good solution Vuzix is a company that produces consumer video eyewear, medical devices, and display true tactic for the military.
VR920 The device simulates a 62 "screen, but it costs $ 399.95. The final model costs $ 999.00. What a great way to improve the mini-screen handheld device. It 'clear that this successful program extends from the restrictions of LawWindows Mobile Device small screens.
Mobile scanning and printing
I recently had an article in the magazine Smartphone and Pocket PC on some of the tools that I recommend for mobile productivity. I have a portable scanner and a printer I'm trying to avoid armed, unless I know for a fact that will need mentioned. That was before CES, and my discovery of an incredible number of products from Planon DocuPen with its small and printer.
I almost passed this position, because I had my eye on a fantasySpeaking of time, when a pretty girl asked me if I had ever heard of a DocuPen. She was shaking that can have a high wall tech to me that Harry Potter would be proud to be owned. Looks like a slightly oversized pen.
The demo blew me away because all you need do is wave in any document or graphic, and contains bits of color in black and white, grayscale or 24.
It comes with the card-scanning program, weighs 1.75 ounces, runs onRechargeable lithium-ion batteries and comes with a micro-SD expansion card for additional storage. A Universal Mobile Charger accessories are good for a maximum of 55 charges when a power source available.
Some of the DocuPen PS900 connector with the printer via Bluetooth, and a powerful mobile solution. You can also send a scanned image of your Windows Mobile device if you want to use in a PowerPoint presentation or e-mail. Of course you can print images that are already in yourphone too.
The Stick Print is a simple 1 "x 1.9 x 11" and weighs 1.9 pounds, including thermal paper and model. E 'print up to 3 pages per minute at 8.5 inches wide leaves. A model will be 20 x 8.5 cm 11 pages to print. Power options include AC 120-240, 12/24 V DC and the rechargeable lithium ion battery.
The suggested retail price is $ 299 for each unit. Support is extra. In any event, the winning combination to be worth its weight in gold on the road in emergency situationssituations. I am glad that she has raised her wand at me, and never come back into a pumpkin. Check it out at http://www.planon.com.
Magic Jack
I have an incredibly small appliance with you to impress me, though not exactly rich in hand. This is the Magic Jack, a VoIP solution is unique. We have all heard of Skype and Vonage no doubt, but the next Magic Jack comes with a whole new approach using VoIP. Imagine a small box the size of a package of strike anywhereresponds with a male USB connector to extend it.
Just plug into any USB port on your PC, connect a standard analog telephone to the other side and began to speak. Local calls and long distance calls are free. This phone system is equipped with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from an expensive landline phone account, such as voicemail, call waiting and caller ID. It also has a switch so you can forward calls to your cell phone, which justifies its inclusion in this article, I think.
The onlycost of purchasing the device for $ 39.95, also the first year of service. With each account, you get a real phone number people can call in the normal way with a phone from anywhere. Then it is $ 19.95 per year, not months, years. Never pay the phone company again!
